When Tropic Thunder first came out many people and articles surfaced boycotting the movie. The people planned to boycott it because this movie takes inappropriate comments to the next level offending the mentally disabled. In the film Ben Stiller plays a mentally disabled man named Simple Jack. In the film Ben Stiller and the cast repeatedly use the words "retard", "moron", and "imbecile". This Film didn't show sensitivity to issues that are a concern to real people this day in age. NISH CEO Robert Chamberlin speaks out saying that the film redefined the term "politically incorrect". He felt the film was degrading and stereotypical of people with disabilities.
Movies like Forest Gump and I Am Sam also displace these issue, however they do it with sensitivity and ment not to be a humor or as some people saw offensive. A lot of other movies present issues in their movies that are real for people and make them funny and stupid humor, however not everyone sees those issues as being funny. Issues like overweight, teen pregnancy, eating disorders, and bullying, and much more. They take these issues and try to spin them into stupid humor that is supposed to be funny. But the people with these issues sometimes don't see it them funny like they are portrayed. I believe that Dream Works or any other film company do not set out to make their films to offend anyone, but sometimes it happens. When it happens I think people should not take offend to it as much. Films are not made to offend people they are made to entertain people.
